Regional Skills Partnership Manager

Caryn Grimes

Caryn is employed as the Regional Skills Partnership Manager for the Cardiff Capital Region Skills Partnership and leads on employer engagement across the Creative, Human Foundational Economy and Local Authority cluster groups.

Prior to this Caryn held the role of Regional Skills Partnership Coordinator for the Cardiff Capital Region Skills Partnership supporting the Regional Skills Partnership Managers in leading employer engagement across the priority sectors within the Cardiff Capital Region.

Caryn has extensive experience working in both the private and public sector and has worked within the skills and more specifically apprenticeship industry for over 20 years this includes leading the delivery of employment and training contracts within this space.

Caryn was initially employed at Newport City Council to help drive the apprenticeship delivery programme through the work of the Work Based Learning Academy (WBLA) both internally within the council and externally to generate a commercial revenue. Caryn was heavily involved in the development of the Newport Commitment which involved liaising with employers within the priority sectors including external partners and stakeholders.

Before joining Newport City Council, Caryn had previously worked for lead training providers across the region. Caryn has completed a number of work based qualifications including ILM and shares a passion and need for the development and progression of young adults into training and employment.
